SALON HISTORY:
12.05.1995 to 01.08.2008:
Christine Goodis, owner/developer/master colorist and stylist of Salon Christine, an Aveda Concept Salon, is known to be the "hairdresser's hairdresser and dynamic leader for women, as an imagination machine." Cristine's background of thirty years in the Salon and Fashion Industry has lead her to many corners of the world, educating and leading others as well as working side-by-side with some of the world's top hairdressers. Her training began at Vidal Sassoon in London, and continued on from there as platform artist for companies such as Sorbie, Sebastian and Rusk. Christine won Master Stylist of the Year and was also the President of the Pittsburgh Art and Fashion Group.
After 12 years of business in the Historical Landmark Arrott Building, Salon Christine #2 opened as an Aveda Concept Salon/Art Gallery/Lounge at 954 Penn Avenue on January 08, 2008. "My goal is, has always been, and will continue to be, to provide and create a space, where women and men of all ages come to have all of their hair, skin and spa services. People arrive early just to relax in my warm and eco-friendly global atmosphere. People leave with dynamic personalized and customized hair cuts, hair shading, spa manicures and pedicures, organic body and face waxing, sensory journeys and body products, aroma therapy massages and plant extract skin care treatments. Hair is fabric, and [we] customize the hair to the persons lifestyle, body and personality."
Christine chose her new location at 954 Penn Avenue, in the Cultural District of downtown Pittsburgh because of her love and on-going continual support of the Arts in Pittsburgh, as well as the relatively new eco-friendly Pittsburgh Convention Center across the street. Aveda products are 97% derived from plants and flowers from around the world. "Our mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society. At Aveda, we strive to set an example for the environmental leadership and responsibility, not just in the world of beauty, but around the world." - Horst Rechelbacher, Founder of Aveda
During Earth month of 2008, just four months after her Aveda grand opening, Christine came in first runner-up in America for her expertise in custom haircolor. All proceeds went to the Potomac River Clean Water Org. When the performances at Heinz Hall or the O'Reilly Theater or the Benedum Theater are open to the public, the staff of each of the performances enjoy their spare time to pamper themselves at Salon Christine. Salon Christine supports and is involved with the Downtown Pittsburgh Gallery Crawl featuring many new native Pittsburgh Artists per crawl.
